Many thanks to Craig Lindsley, Ph.D., FRSC, FASPET, FAAS, FNAI Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, for sharing his thoughts about the new game-changer, with AI in medicinal chemistry. Previously, we got combinatorial chemistry, fragment-based drug design, Cryo EM (moving beyond X-ray), nanosystems, targeted systems, the powerful AlphaFold tool. Today, AI is the new paradigm but where is the human creativity with such a prompt job? This raises the question of the role of human creativity, ingenuity. For sure, AI in Medicinal Chemistry will allow to aggregate some already known tools, to improve their global efficiency/connectivity and to accelerate the development of new (learning machine) systems. AI in medicinal chemistry is and will to be a powerful asset… but if the human behind the prompt masters the Medicinal Chemistry knowledge. #MedicinalChemistry, #AI, #DrugDiscovery
